Don’t Just Deck the Halls: Elevate Your Social Media Presence this Holiday Season

November 30, 2023

The holiday season is here, and it’s time to plan this month’s social media calendar. But what’s the right tone and imagery to use? How do you stay festive for the holidays and sensitive to grieving families at the same time?

Here are a few ideas to get you past the writer’s block:

  • Show off your festive decor. If your funeral home puts up wreaths, trees, or other decorations, posting pictures on social media is a great way to spread some joy.
  • Contribute to the community. Whether it’s donating to local food drives or volunteering at the shelter, when your funeral home takes action in the community, share it! This inspires others to do the same and shows how much you care.
  • Share resources for grieving followers. The holidays are hard for those who have lost a loved one. Show your support with some encouraging words and tips for grieving. Your followers will appreciate it!

On the flip side, there’s one major thing to avoid: starting pre-need campaigns during the holiday season. Now’s the time to focus less on sales and more on connecting with your followers. Be sure to maintain a genuine, human voice throughout your content.
