Beware: Surge in Phishing Scams Following Worldwide IT Outage

July 23, 2024

Safeguard Your Firm During This Critical Time

Last week, the world experienced what some are calling the largest IT outage in history, and bad actors could exploit this as an opportunity to steal your data.

According to the Financial Times, cyber watchdogs in different countries have already issued warnings about an influx of phishing scams pretending to help with recovery from the outage.

Funeral homes are especially vulnerable to online scams because of the sensitive nature of private information they collect from families for cases. We urge you and your staff to stay vigilant against suspicious emails and online activity. Click here for more tips on avoiding phishing attacks and how to spot suspicious digital behavior.

To help you navigate these cyber threats, we've partnered with insurance partner McGriff to create a comprehensive cybersecurity insurance program tailored specifically for funeral homes, crematories, and cemeteries.
